A Drop-In Expressive Painting Class
When: Thursdays at 6:30 - 7:30pm (weekly, drop-in)
Where: Elbow Room at WestArt
Cost: $20 per person (materials included)
Ages: Adults & teens
A low-pressure, high-play painting hour. This is not a paint and sip or still life class, it’s about painting from within. Come as you are, grab your favorite supplies, and explore color, gesture, and mood. I offer simple prompts and intuitive guidance to help you loosen up and discover your own abstract style. Absolutely no experience needed.
What to expect:
Short warm-ups to get out of your head
Guided prompts for expressive, intuitive painting
Tips on color, composition, and letting go of “perfect”
A relaxed studio vibe. Drop in and make at your own pace
What to bring:
Your favorite materials if you have some (no oil paint, please). I’ll also have brushes, paints, water cups, and paper available.
Clothes you don’t mind getting paint on
A rag or two

Overview
This one-session workshop introduces students to expressive, process-focused art-making using approachable materials such as watercolor, charcoal, soft pastel, and oil pastel. Through playful techniques and meditative approaches, students will explore the early stages of an intuitive art practice, with an emphasis on expressive exploration over polished outcomes.
