Goodbye Studio

I’ve really loved having this large space to create freely and work on multiple large pieces at a time.

Almost a year ago, I moved my studio from my home to space at the corner of North Duke and Liberty Streets, and with a lot of help from friends, turned it into somewhere I love being. It was a classroom and brought with it all the institutional charm, ample lighting, lots of storage, and tall ceilings with pencils still stuck in the tiles. I hadn’t been quite expecting the move, but I walked into the space, just curiously checking out what available studio spaces were like in the area, I fell in love. It was a full body YES.

Below are some memories from move-in to ready to a space of my own.

In the spring, the painter, Leigh Lindsay, joined me and it became even more fun to create in there. Earlier this month, I made the tough decision to move back into my home studio, and it is a very bittersweet transition I’m beginning to make. We always meant to throw a studio warming. Then the year got ahead of us. So we’re throwing it on our way out. Before we hand over the keys, we want to share it with you.

On Saturday, November 21, we’ll be opening the studio from 10am - 2pm. If you can’t make that time or if you’d like a sneak peek, you can make an appointment with me from Wednesday to Friday, November 18 - 20.

You’re invited to come by, see our work, and celebrate the space. It’s also an opportunity to purchase pieces directly from the artists, so take something home if it speaks to you.
